Sri Lanka - Oct/Nov 2025

Our Sri Lanka Team 2025 has just returned from Sri Lanka, having enjoyed an elephant safari, tea picking, a spice garden, a train ride through paddy fields, and lots and lots of delicious Sri Lankan food. We visited many of our partner schools in Sri Lanka and delivered a wealth of activities to the children there.
Thanks to Wednesday Fundraising and many initiatives through the year, which the students organised themselves, the total raised this year exceeded £12,000. This money gave electricity and running to a partner school in Ammankulam, gave music and sound equipment to Urani school in Batticaloa and gave uniform and school bags to children in Chenkallady.

For the first part of the trip we visited temples, plucked tea leaves at a plantation, fed elephants at the elephant orphanage and observed them from a jeep in the wild, and explored historic city of Kandy, the final kingdom before British rule of then Ceylon. During the week of half term, we worked with mainstream students, special needs students, and students who are hearing impaired.

Sri Lanka and the warmth of its people has made a huge impression on our students. They have learnt much about themselves and about what it is like to like in a completely different part of the world, with different foods, climate and culture.
