Opportunities within our Community

We are a large school and we are continuing to expand to accommodate the increasing number of students in the area.  In terms of student numbers, we are set to become the largest maintained school in Hampshire.  This brings with it a plethora of opportunities for staff, not just in terms of career but also enrichment activities such as accompanying students on trips or running extra-curricular activities.  We have also invested in improved facilities.

We consider ourselves to be one Community where we listen to each other, support one another and respect those around us.  We are all committed to ensuring the best outcomes for our students and we encourage plenty of communication between the stakeholder groups.

Student Achievement

Firstly, the single biggest reason for joining Calthorpe Park is our students.  They are bright, articulate, positive and sincere young people.  We strive for high academic success for all students of all abilities and our philosophy of ‘Teaching to the Top’ ensures we provide stretch opportunities for all.  Feedback from our latest Ofsted report pointed to the fact that students enjoy our challenging and ambitious curriculum that offers over 30 subjects for study at GCSE or BTEC. The wider curriculum supports students to be responsible and active citizens.

Our Purpose and Values

Our leadership team strives to lead with integrity; embody a clear vision that drives and develops outstanding outcomes and to ensure the best possible life chances for all stakeholders.  We value the particular culture and ethos of our school and work hard to ensure that it is supportive and founded on the principles of growth mindset.  All that we do is underpinned by a set of values known to students and staff as ‘The Calthorpe Way.

Pastoral Focus & Wellbeing

We have a great deal of support for our students with a large pastoral team consisting of Pastoral Assistants, Safeguarding Officers, Family Support Worker and ELSAs.  Calthorpe Park School has put in place a House System led by six Heads of House who are responsible for Topaz, Quartz, Emerald, Sapphire, Ruby and Amethyst Houses.  All staff and students are assigned to a House so that we maintain a sense of belonging and community, even though we are a growing school.  We also have vertical tutor groups within each House which consists of students from all years.

We have a strong Equality, Diversity and Inclusion ethos and we continually strive to make CPS an inclusive and welcoming environment for all.  We are committed to the positive wellbeing and mental health of our staff and have a committed group of Mental Health First Aiders.  For those that require additional support, we have a free Employee Support service that is available 24 hours, 7 days a week.

Our location

Situated in the northeast of Hampshire, Fleet enjoys an excellent reputation as one of the best places to live.  Fleet is well served with facilities, and residents benefit from an above average lifestyle, high quality education from Primary to Sixth Form, low crime rates and easy access to other areas of the southeast and London.

There is considerable scope for housing development and growth within our area but despite this, we are fortunate to be surrounded by beautiful open countryside and areas of natural beauty such as Fleet Pond Nature Reserve and Basingstoke Canal. These areas are the perfect antidote to busy lives and offer opportunities for walking, cycling and enjoying nature.

Fleet Pond

Calthorpe Park School is located less than a half-hour walk from the town centre and is easily accessible via the designated cycle and foot path. The local leisure centre and facilities, including a country park, are situated directly opposite the school.
