School Games 24-25: A year of Sport, Spirit and Student Leadership
At CPS, we believe in the power of sport to inspire, unite, and empower. Our School Games Organiser, Mrs. Woods, has delivered a wide range of inclusive and exciting sporting opportunities for primary and secondary students across Hart and Rushmoor.
The School Games programme is about more than just competition—it’s about building confidence, character, and community. From Early Years to secondary school, over 6,000 students have taken part in 56 events, with 30 hosted right here at CPS.

Celebrating Our Sports Leaders
A special shout-out goes to eight exceptional young leaders who have gone above and beyond this year: Paige F, Maia S, Poppy C, Erin M, Daisy G, Zoe E, Emilia M, and Jorja T.
These remarkable students have consistently shown up with energy, enthusiasm, and a smile. Whether leading warm-ups, setting up activities, or encouraging younger pupils, they’ve demonstrated outstanding leadership, communication, and organisational skills. They’ve created a fun, inclusive environment where every child felt confident and excited to take part. They are not just leaders—they are role models and true ambassadors for youth sport.
Whole-School Tennis Festival at Velmead Juniors
In January, our leaders ran a whole-school tennis festival at Velmead Junior School, delivering a carousel of tennis-themed activities to over 300 pupils. From rally challenges to target games, the event was a huge success and a brilliant example of peer-led learning.
Crookham CE Infant School Sports Day
At the beginning of June, we were delighted to host a fantastic Sports Day for the pupils of Crookham CE Infant School and what a day it was! The sun was shining, the energy was high, and the 3G and field was filled with laughter, encouragement, and brilliant sporting spirit. Our incredible team of Sports Leaders - Emilia M, India B, Fergus W, Evan H, Sam S, Izzy O'M, Emilie R, Isla M, Kaelee H, Phoebe J, Isabelle D, Jorja T, Oliver R, Paige F, Henry L, Daisy G, Poppy C, Maia S, Erin M, Zoe E, Amy B and Bea B, all played a key role in making the day such a huge success. They guided the younger pupils through a variety of fun and inclusive activities, from races and relays to jumping and throwing challenges. Their enthusiasm, patience, and leadership were truly commendable, and they represented our school with pride and professionalism. To our surprise and delight, we were presented with a beautiful, hand-crafted thank-you poem from the children at Crookham Infants yesterday. The poem, titled "A Sports Day Thank You," was filled with heartfelt appreciation and colourful illustrations, capturing the joy and excitement of the day.
Aldershot Military Stadium Hart District Sports Event
Our leadership journey continued at the Aldershot Military Stadium, where over 750 KS1 and KS2 pupils took part in a full day of athletics. Track and field activities were led by a dedicated team of Sports Leaders - India B, James B, Theis C, Emilly C, Poppy C, Zoe E, Josie F, Barnaby F, Evan H, Kaelee H, Isla M, Poppy M, Emilia M, Izzy O'M, Maia S, Sam S, Jorja T, Fergus W, Anje E, and Macey M. These events have not only helped our students develop leadership, communication, and organisational skills, but they’ve also strengthened the bonds between our schools and communities. It’s been a powerful reminder of how sport can bring people together and create lasting memories.
