Library News - July 2025
It’s been another fantastic year in the library, filled with reading, learning, and creativity. Hundreds of books have been borrowed, countless library lessons delivered, and a wide range of competitions and quizzes have seen students winning well-deserved prizes. We’re thrilled that our library continues to be such a popular and welcoming space for students—a place to relax, explore, and enjoy our ever-growing collection of books.
Our annual Book Fair was once again a tremendous success, thanks to the generosity of our parents, carers, and students. It was great to see so many young readers excitedly choosing books ahead of the Christmas break.
World Book Day was another highlight, packed with fun activities and competitions – all with a reading connection. A highlight was the superbly decorated tutor group doors competition – we really were blown away with the high standard and clear effort that went into representing a chosen book/ author on the doors. Overall there really was a buoyant atmosphere, especially with so many staff members joining in the spirit of the day by dressing up in book-themed costumes—it truly brought World Book Day off the page!
Our Book Club has been buzzing with activity all year. The students have been a delight to spend time with after school, diving into stories and expressing their creativity in wonderful ways. Looking ahead, we’re excited to launch a new book club for older students, ensuring that every year group has the opportunity to enjoy the library and discover the joy of reading.
Over the Summer break, students should continue to keep up their reading. Our Year 7 students arriving in September have been set a Summer Reading Challenge and there are plenty of prizes to claim when they arrive. Students can make full use of our digital library over the break which offers both ebooks and audiobooks (and comics/ magazines). Guidance as to how to access this resource can be found on the CPS website by going to the Student drop down menu and then onto ‘Library News’. Alternatively, students may wish to make use of the Hampshire Digital Library

We do ask students to make sure that any overdue books are returned so if you discover some hiding away over the holidays, please ensure they are ready in school bags for September.
Thank you to both students and parents for their support this year. Keep reading!
