Church Crookham and Fleet Men’s Shed Move To A New Home
Church Crookham & Fleet Men’s Shed group are part of a national charity set up to support men, based on the concept of inviting them to come together in a “garden shed” type environment. The idea is to encourage men to make social connections outside of the working environment. The Men’s Shed group want to make a change to give men a voice and an opportunity to forge new relationships and thereby encourage them to share personal concerns and worries to help tackle depression and isolation.
The Church Crookham and Fleet branch have been a regular hirer at CPS for a number of years and regularly could be found busily crafting away in Room 21, working on many different community projects included some lovely pieces for the school itself. One of these items is the very special engraved plaque to commemorate the special Memorial Garden which can be found on the external wall of the music rooms.
Through a combination of fundraising, grants and a successful lottery bid the local group have been able to secure their own brand new purpose built shed on Naishes Lane, Church Crookham. So they packed their boxes over the summer holidays and said a fond farewell to us and a few weeks ago enjoyed an extremely well supported Open Day in their fabulous new surroundings.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all involved with Church Crookham and Fleet Men’s Shed for their support of the school through their community letting and for the valuable contributions (including an actual shed) that they have left behind. We wish them all the very best in their new bigger home and look forward to following their progress over the forthcoming years.
