GCSE Results - August 2015

Celebration of our fantastic results…again!

DSCF1170

Our students have been collecting their exam results throughout the morning and there have been plenty of beaming smiles and thrilled expressions, as well as a fair few squeals of delight!

The overall results show more than 82% achieving 5 or more A*-C grades, with 75% attaining 5 or more GCSEs including English and Maths. This shows continuing improvement again this year in both progress and achievement.

There are some superb results in all areas of our very broad curriculum as well as some outstanding individual performances. 18 students have achieved 10 or more top grades, more than 30 students have achieved 8 or more passes at grade A* or A, and nearly a third of students have achieved at least three A*/A grades. Furthermore, 6 students achieved a grade A in AS Maths.

In terms of the sheer volume of A* and A grades achieved, our Top Ten performing students in this year’s Year 11 are:

Jack Tyler
Betsy Horton
Russell Cairns
Nathan Seedall
Emily Morrison
Georgia Dabinett
Rebecca Liu
Alex Ivey
James Cridland
Olivia Hardy

But educational success is not only about the highest achievers; we are thrilled with the progress of all our students, many of whom have made 5 or more levels of progress. Within this group there are examples of outstanding personal triumph, sometimes against adversity. In terms of progress from their starting point or personal achievement during their years at Calthorpe Park, worthy of particular mention are:

Joy Darmanin                                 Meg Ross
James Dixon                                  Becky Lloyd
Hanifah Mojid                                Charlotte Linn
Jonny Gilbert                                 James Grice
Micah Douglas                               Aimee Carter
Amy Rimmer                                 Nick Colclough
Billy Kilcoyne                                 Will Christer
Fraser Woods                               Jamie Snellock
Gregory Keegan                            Jamie Holt

But our good news is not restricted to Year 11 students only.  Year 10 students sat GCSE Statistics and have achieved an excellent 86% grade C or above pass rate, of which 39% are at A*/A.  Year 9 students were entered for GCSE RE and 84% have attained a C grade or above, with 30% gaining an A/A*. These achievements reflect the many and diverse opportunities available to our students as well as our high expectations and the provision of aspirational challenge.

We are delighted with these results and immensely proud of the endeavours of our students and staff in achieving them. All of this has been within the context of a year of major construction work as the school’s new buildings really start to take shape. We send our congratulations to everyone who took exams this year.
