Sports Day - July 2025

Our third Sports Day in our 6 new Houses, took place on Wednesday 2nd July 2025 and what a fantastic and enjoyable day it turned out to be. Thankfully the weather was considerably cooler then the preceding few days, with a little rain in the morning and the sun returning in the afternoon. There was lots of cheering and support for all those participating from all the Houses. The inclusion once again, of our very popular Multi Games, made the day very successful and completely inclusive and was enjoyed by students and staff alike. There was a definite increase in the numbers of students participating with huge positivity and great teamwork throughout the day, especially evident during Relay Competition. It was fantastic to see students working together, ensuring they entered a team in every race to secure 10 participation points and then positional points, dependent on their finishing place in the race.

The competition was very close throughout the day, especially going into the Relay Finals in the afternoon, because of the excellent levels of participation from all six of our Houses in the Multi Games. Students also secured points for their House from their participation during PE lessons where they recorded results for recording results in Athletic events (2 points per event) and those students who represented the school in our Athletics, Rounders and Cricket Teams in extracurricular, also secured points (10 per match).

The afternoon’s proceedings were opened by Mr Walker and our wonderful Samba Band and there was a flurry of excitement and activity, as all Houses worked together to ensure they entered the maximum number of Relay teams in each year group. Every team tried their very best to win, supported loudly and enthusiastically by all six Houses.

It was truly fantastic to see everyone working together, to celebrate together as a whole school and to hear the cheers and roars of enjoyment from the crowd, as they encouraged their runners throughout the whole afternoon. We even managed to include a staff relay that kept us entertained whilst the final scores were being calculated.

Many congratulations to Quartz House and Mr Toovey, who are the third worthy winners of our prestigious Sports Day Cup, as six Houses.

The Physical Education Department would like to thank all the students and all the staff involved, without whom, we could not have run such a fabulous whole school event. Special thanks go to the Site Team and the PE Department for all their hard work in the preparation and delivery of the day. We are already looking forward to a bigger and better Sports Day 2026!
