Mock Interview Day - July 2018

As part of the school’s careers programme all Y10 students participated in a ‘Mock Interview Day’ on Tuesday, 3rd July which included workshops on employability skills plus an interview with someone from the business world. The day involved students spending the morning in four skills based workshops about interview, communication and teamwork skills. In the afternoon students took part in a mock interview with someone from the world of work. This links to Article 6 (life, survival and development) and Article 29 (goals of education) of the UNCRC.

“Today has really helped my confidence with interviews.”

Preparation began with the planning  of outfits with impressions being a crucial element in succeeding an interview. Through writing our CVs and application forms it meant that we gained experience on how to sell ourselves for potential employers.

“The workshops were very engaging and I especially enjoyed the Canadian Pacific Project.”

Having prepared thoroughly beforehand, we were put into different groups to participate in workshops which taught us key skills to take with us into the interviews  and  future employment,

“All of the volunteers were very friendly and professional.”

During the interviews we were observed by our peers who gave us feedback on the way we approached the interview and the way we presented ourselves. We were asked a series of typical interview questions which challenged us to come up with appropriate responses under pressure.
