STEM trip to Shell - July 2016

At ‘Make the Future London’ Mr Gueye, Mrs Milner and fourteen Calthorpe Park students experienced bright ideas in action in five exciting zones.  During our visit on Friday, 1st July, we saw live Science shows, explored amazing inventions and watched the cars of the future in action on the track.  ‘Make the Future London’ is about ideas - bright ideas for tomorrow's energy challenges.  Globally, we are using more energy than ever before.  At the same time, the significance of climate change means the world has to reduce CO2 emissions.  We need to have innovative thinking to make today's energy go further and to find cleaner energy to take us towards a low-carbon world.

Great ideas come from conversation, collaboration, partnerships; great minds coming together. That's why we visited ‘Make the Future London’ and were among the first to see brilliant new ideas and innovations from across the whole world of energy, our aim being to get involved, get inspired and see how we can be part of the journey towards a low-carbon future.

The cars photographed were finalists in the engineering challenge for young engineers in Europe to design, build and test a vehicle to travel as far as possible on one litre of fuel.  Last year’s winner travelled the equivalent of driving from London to Rome and back!
