Year 10/11 Art, Photography and Ceramics trip to Cornwall - September 2025

Fresh from the start of term the Art department took 43 Year 10/11 to St Ives to experience the creative hub of the west coast. The students got the chance to work with practicing Artists, Photographers and Ceramicists exploring new techniques and ways of working. Travelling down we made a stop at the Eden project where students were able to look around the two large biomes, explore the ‘Breathing’ sculpture and the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. Staying in the heart of St Ives meant ease of access to the workshops giving students a chance to experience St Ives for themselves, plus how cheeky those seagulls can be!

Blessed with good weather for our duration, students were taken on the beach for drawing/painting and sculpting workshops. They also explored in-depth photography techniques around the town of St Ives, sun printing and exploring clay at the famous Leech Pottery Centre. With fun games and sea shanties in the evening a good time was had by all - we can’t wait to head back again next year!
