History - June 2022

Year 8 have been learning how The Wall Street Crash of October 1929 caused a world-wide economic depression. Germany suffered greatly and is a contributing factor as to why Hitler and the Nazis took control in 1933. However, Britain was one of the first countries to be affected by America’s financial crisis. A consequence of this was that the British Union of Fascists gained in popularity in Britain which bore the resemblance of the Nazis in Germany and the Mussolini’s (Italian Dictator) Fascist Party. Year 8 were challenged to find out about the rise of Fascism in Britain and an event known as the Fight for Cable Street in 1936. Students had to design a wordle to demonstrate their understanding of the concept of Fascism and to either write a newspaper article, write lyrics for a song or design a piece of art showing their knowledge and understanding of the events of Cable Street.
