Medical, Safety & Emotional Support
Our Heath and Welfare Officers are available throughout the school day to attend to any emergency requiring first aid.
The Medical room is open to students during break and lunchtime. During lessons if a child feels unwell they will need to be given permission by their class teacher to attend the Medical room.
Students must not contact parents/carers (by phone/text) if they feel unwell at school. In the first instance they should attend Medical, where Miss Ballard can determine whether they are well enough to return to class, or a decision made to send the student home. Failure to follow this school procedure will result in a detention (see our protocol below).
If there are any changes to your child's medical situation e.g. a course of antibiotics or need to use crutches, please inform us as soon as possible by phone on 01252 618175 (where a message can be left) or by email (email@example.com).
If your child has a case of head lice, please let us know. This link to the Lice Program (no chemicals) is very helpful; alternatively you might also want to check this site. If you have further queries speak to either a pharmacist or your GP.
Please note the following advice from Public Health England’s Guidance on infection control in schools and other childcare settings: If your child has diarrhoea or vomiting it is recommended that they are to be kept away from school for 48 hours from last episode of diarrhoea or vomiting. Handwashing is one of the most important ways of controlling the spread of infections, especially those that cause diarrhoea and vomiting, and respiratory disease. The recommended method is the use of liquid soap, warm water and paper towels. Always wash hands after using the toilet, before eating or handling food.
