ELSA - Emotional Literacy Support

ELSA Logo Colour

An ELSA (Emotional Learning Support Assistant) is trained to plan and deliver specialist programmes of support to students who are experiencing temporary or longer term emotional needs.  ELSAs are trained and regularly supervised by the Educational Psychologist in the Local Education Authority.

We deliver individual and small group work tailored programmes of support to help with a wide range of issues including self-esteem, loss and bereavement, anxiety, anger management and social skills. The therapeutic interventions we offer include CAL (canine assisted learning), Drawing and Talking, Lego Therapy, Sand Tray therapy and TALA (Therapeutic Active Listening). Our ELSAs work with students to develop self-awareness and provide practical strategies to help in everyday life. See this page for details of Luna, our school dog.
