Blog from the Chair of Governors
The summer holidays are now firmly over and we are heading into a new academic year.
Firstly, I would like to say that our GCSE results are exceptional. Our previous Year 11 students have done a fantastic job. I had the privilege to speak to a number of our students on results day and it was a pleasure to share in their joy. The most important aspect of the results is that our students are able to go on to undertake the next stage of their own personal ambitions. I think these results also show the quality and dedication of the staff at CPS.
So, the new Year 7s have just joined. This is always a big ordeal, but I am always amazed now quickly they settle into their new surroundings of a big school. There is a lot of fun in finding your way around all the exciting and interesting parts of our great school.
I am very pleased to welcome a number of new members of staff this year, with a special welcome to our new Deputy Headteacher - Mrs George Knights.
Hopefully, covid is now fully behind us and we can get on with the full curriculum programme that will include lots of after-school clubs and more external visits. We had the amazing Oliver production last term and I am looking forward to seeing what the Drama and Music teams will be coming up with this year.
We now have six new Houses - a decision we made last academic year - this is an exciting time for our students to develop their own personality for their new Houses.
The school is looking great with quite a lot of extra work taking place during the summer - so a big thank you to Jay Wilcox and and his team and to Jo Miller, Business Manager, for managing all of this over the summer.
We have many exciting plans for this year and look forward to sharing these as we progress.
