Weekly Update โ€“ 18 September

Attendance: Thank-you to all the Year 7 Parents who attended the Coffee Morning today, it was so lovely to welcome our new parents to school. A special thanks to our Mental Health Support Team for an informative and supportive presentation to parents. We will be sharing a recording for anyone who was unable to attend. Please look out for this in next week’s message and keep an eye out for our next Coffee Morning.

Today marks the end of 100% attendance week, we have seen the lead spot switch around between Houses. Next week we will confirm which House won, well done to everyone who got 100% attendance this week!

Macmillan Coffee Morning: A reminder that next Friday we will be holding our annual Macmillan Coffee Morning bake sale. We would greatly appreciate everyone taking part by bringing in cakes, biscuits and other lovely treats to be sold helping us raise money for a wonderful cause. Please see this letter with further details on how you can support.

Site Access – Polite Reminder: Please remember that parents’ and carers’ vehicles are not permitted on the school site during the school day unless access has been specifically authorised by the school. As part of our wider community, we share local roads and facilities with Hart Leisure Centre, neighbouring organisations, and residents. During busy drop-off and pick-up times, concerns have been raised about traffic congestion and driving behaviour around the school and surrounding area.

We kindly ask all drivers to:

  • Drive patiently and courteously
  • Follow designated traffic routes
  • Be mindful of pedestrians, cyclists, and other road users
  • Show consideration to residents and neighbouring facilities
  • Allow extra time for journeys where possible
  • Do not drop off in front of the school barrier

Thank you for your continued support.

Reading and Spelling Tests for Years 7, 8 and 9: Students in these year groups will be participating in a Reading and Spelling Test next week in the main hall.ย  They will be brought to the hall by their class teachers over a series of lessons throughout the week. This reading and spelling test is an independent test to ascertain their reading and comprehension levels and their spelling levels.ย  No practice or revision is needed, please reassure the students that they only have to come and do their best.ย

Year 11: College open evenings across this term can be found at this link on our website. Colleges with open events next week are as follows:
– QMC: 23 and 24 September
– All Hallows: 24 September

Years 10/11: the few remaining places at the Careers Fair (Tuesday 22 September) can be booked via the link sent out by Ms Wayman. Three local colleges are giving short talks over the evening, with spaces still available for QMC and FCoT – use the same link as sent out earlier.
