Weekly Update โ€“ ย 11 July 2025

With over four months of very hard work, commitment and enthusiasm, our students are currently part way though the run of “9 to 5” with two nights left!  At the time of sending there is one seat left tonight and tomorrow – link is here.  Audiences have loved the show so far and we wish students and staff all the best for their last two performances.

It’s our main fundraising event next Friday 18 July – Our House/CPS Rocks.  We are supporting three charities this year and are hoping that you will join us by donating ยฃ2 (or more) per student via Scopay.  Thanks in advance for your support!

We are asking for student volunteers to sign up for our forthcoming photo shoot for various images to be used around school and on the website.  Students who are interested in being part of this group should sign up here.

The end of term is on Tuesday 22 July at 12.40pm when we finish for the Summer holidays – see this page for all term dates.

Library: Click here for our usual Library news and Books of the Week.  As the summer holidays approach, students need to return those overdue books that have somehow got tucked away around the home gathering dust and have been forgotten. Search under beds, on top of wardrobes and in the cupboards!  We need books to be returned so that they are available for all.

From Iceland to the Classroom: GCSE Geographers Inspire Year 2 Pupils

IMG_2478

Following their unforgettable trip to Iceland, five of our Year 9 GCSE Geography students โ€“ Tyler R, Luke G, Natalia V, Imogen F and Keira G took their learning one step further by delivering an engaging and educational presentation to Year 2 pupils at Crookham Infant School. The visit marked a wonderful example of cross-phase collaboration and community engagement, as the students shared their experiences with younger learners who had just completed their own humanities topic on Iceland.

The presentation brought the dramatic Icelandic landscape to life for the Year 2 pupils, with vivid descriptions of volcanic eruptions, glacial walks, geysers, waterfalls, population and wildlife. The older students used photos, videos, volcanic rocks, and storytelling to explain complex geographical concepts in a way that was accessible and exciting for their young audience.

This initiative offered a wealth of benefits for both groups including consolidation of learning, development of communication skills, cross-curricular learning for our GCSE students, along with providing real-world context and visual reinforcement for the Year 2 pupils, helping to consolidate their learning in a memorable and meaningful way whilst strengthening school links.

We are incredibly proud of our students for their enthusiasm, maturity, and willingness to share their knowledge. Their presentation not only inspired the next generation of geographers but also demonstrated the power of learning beyond the classroom.

Well done to our fantastic ambassadors and thank you to Crookham Infants for the warm welcome!

A Joyful Day of Sport and Teamwork with Crookham Infants

At the beginning of June, we were delighted to host a fantastic Sports Day for the pupils of Crookham CE Infant School and what a day it was! The sun was shining, the energy was high, and the 3G and field was filled with laughter, encouragement, and brilliant sporting spirit.

Our incredible team of Sports Leaders – Emilia M, India B, Fergus W, Evan H, Sam S, Izzy O’M, Emilie R, Isla M, Kaelee H, Phoebe J, Isabelle D, Jorja T, Oliver R, Paige F, Henry L, Daisy G, Poppy C, Maia S, Erin M, Zoe E, Amy B and Bea B, all played a key role in making the day such a huge success. They guided the younger pupils through a variety of fun and inclusive activities, from races and relays to jumping and throwing challenges. Their enthusiasm, patience, and leadership were truly commendable, and they represented our school with pride and professionalism.

To our surprise and delight, we were presented with a beautiful, hand-crafted thank-you poem from the children at Crookham Infants recently. The poem, titled “A Sports Day Thank You,” was filled with heartfelt appreciation and colourful illustrations, capturing the joy and excitement of the day.

This event not only gave our students the opportunity to develop their leadership and communication skills but also helped strengthen the bond between our schools. It was a wonderful example of how sport can bring people together and create lasting memories.

A huge thank you to Crookham Infants for joining us and to our Sports Leaders for making the day so special. We look forward to many more shared events in the future!
