Weekly Update – 1 May
We would like to wish our Year 11 students (and others sitting examinations)
the best of luck for next week!

WEEKLY SPOTLIGHT: Check out the Parents section of our new school website. This has been designed with you in mind! It’s the first place we suggest you look if you’re wanting to check or look up anything relating to the school’s day to day operations. From term dates and the school calendar, to guidance on Attendance, Uniform, and Lost Property, you can also find out more about our electronic payments system, Scopay, alongside initiatives such as the Kindness Bucket and the work that takes place in the Inclusion Hub. There are also a range of additional support links to help you and your child during their time at school.
We would love to know your thoughts! Please tell us what you think about our new website by completing our feedback form.
Taster Session – Parenting Course: Parents are invited to a free taster session on 12 May from 6–6:30pm, introducing a series of parenting courses designed to support those with teenagers. These courses aim to provide practical strategies, insight, and confidence to help navigate the challenges and opportunities of the teenage years in a supportive environment.
Two 6-week courses will be available, the first in June/July and the second in September/October. To ensure participants gain the full benefit, we ask that parents commit to attending all six sessions.
The taster session offers a brief, informal introduction to the course content and approach, and an opportunity to decide whether it would be helpful for you.
If you would like to attend, please book your place using this link.
UKMT Certificates: Well done to these students who qualified for the Kangaroo rounds by getting high scores and gold certificates in the UKMT intermediate competition.

NOW CANCELLED – Film Club – Pig Heart Boy: We will be screening the television adaptation of the novel Pig Heart Boy by Malorie Blackman. Year 9 students are currently studying Boys Don’t Cry, so this offers an opportunity to engage with Blackman’s wider work. The screening will be split into two 1-hour sessions to allow the whole series to be shown.
Dates: 7 and 14 May
Location: Library
Timings: 3.15pm until 4.30pm
Some film viewing snacks will be provided.
“A thirteen‑year‑old boy facing a life‑threatening heart condition is offered a ground breaking but controversial chance at survival, forcing him and those around him to confront fear, hope, and what it truly means to live.”
If students would like to attend, please email Mrs Wiltshire
Wishing you all a lovely Bank Holiday weekend –
we look forward to seeing students and staff again on Tuesday!
