Summer Term 2026 - June/July - Calthorpe Park School

Dear Parent and Carers,

As we reach the end of another academic year, I want to take a moment to reflect on what has been a truly fabulous year for our school community.

This year has been filled with achievements both great and small. We have continued to focus on high expectations, a whole school community and creating opportunities for every student to flourish. One of the highlights has been the successful launch of our morning Smart Starts, which have helped students begin each day with purpose, structure and confidence. It is a simple idea with a significant impact, and I want to thank everyone who has embraced and supported it so positively.

Looking back over the summer term alone reminds us just how much we have accomplished together. Our students have represented our school with enthusiasm and excellence on a wide range of trips and experiences. From the challenge and adventure of two Duke of Edinburgh expeditions to the moving and educational Year 9 Battlefields visit to France and Belgium, our students have learned beyond the classroom. We have seen Year 10 students exploring future pathways through a Psychology Taster Day at Queen Mary’s College, celebrating school achievement and success at Thorpe Park, and Year 8 students gaining inspiration through the Women in Engineering programme.

Students have enjoyed cultural experiences through the Wintershall Life of Christ production, the Opera visit to the Grange Festival, the outstanding Art, Photography and Ceramics Exhibition which showcased so much creativity and talent, and the adventurous trip to Iceland provided memories that will last a lifetime.

Sport has continued to thrive, with the Sports Awards Evening recognising outstanding commitment and success, and Sports Day once again bringing out incredible determination, teamwork and house spirit. Our students have also shone on the stage through the spectacular production of We Will Rock You, which demonstrated not only talent but the courage, teamwork and dedication that such a performance requires.

We were delighted to welcome our new Year 7 cohort for their Transition Day ahead of joining us in September. The day provided a wonderful opportunity for them to meet staff, make new friends and experience life at our school. A particular highlight was the enthusiastic reception given to Luna, our therapy dog, who thoroughly enjoyed meeting our newest students. To make the day even more memorable, te entire cohort joined together to sing Happy Birthday to Luna, creating a moment that perfectly captured the kindness, confidence and sense of community that we look forward to seeing flourish when they officially join us in September.

A particular farewell must go to the Class of 2026. We said goodbye through the Leavers’ Assembly and celebrated together at the Prom. This cohort has made an enormous contribution to our school. We are proud of all they have achieved and wish them every success as they move on to the next chapter of their lives.

As we come to the end of the year, we also celebrate our house spirit. The Our House Challenge reminded us of the power of teamwork, community and friendly competition.

None of these experiences happen by chance. They require countless hours of planning, organisation, supervision and support. Staff routinely go above and beyond to create opportunities that inspire our students.

Thank you once again for everything you have contributed this year. Have a wonderful, restful and well-deserved summer break. I look forward to welcoming our students back in September, ready for another exciting year of learning, growth and success.
