Absence and Attendance

We aim to have between 96 and 100% attendance for all students
Please support us by ensuring your child is attending
Absence
Illness/Medical Appointments
You can report an absence due to illness or for a medical appointment by using the ‘Report an Absence’ feature on the home screen of EdulinkOne to send a short electronic message at any time.
Absence needs to be reported for each day that the child is off school, including medical procedures, illness, holidays or outside activities pre-arranged with Attendance. Your child should then sign in at Reception, or the late gate if before 9.05am.

If your child is leaving school during the day for an appointment, please report this via EdulinkOne. Your child will then need to sign out (and in again if returning) at Reception. We may ask for a copy of the appointment for evidence of appointments. This can be attached to EduLink.
Late – If you know in advance that your child will be late to school, please report via EdulinkOne. Your child should then sign in at Reception.
Holidays/Other Absence – to request additional time off during the term, please use this form to request the time off. This must be returned to Attendance.
We know how important excellent attendance is and this is reflected by our overall attendance which is high. However we also know that maintaining high attendance is sometimes difficult and we will always work closely and proactively with families if they need support. This support is tailored to the individual family and could be either short or long term: whatever is needed to help ensure all of our students gain the best education possible.
On the few occasions where absence becomes a persistent problem we follow the Hampshire Code of Conduct including penalty notices for non-attendance at school as per the Education Act 1996.
If you have any questions about attendance, in the first instance please contact our Attendance team.

Attendance
Students should start the day in a positive way by being in their tutor rooms by 8.37am. Students arriving later than this should go through the late gate (to the left of our main Reception). Late arrivals without a valid reason will incur a sanction.
