Celebrating Our Sports Leaders

It is a real privilege recognise a truly exceptional group of students, our Sports Leaders: India B, James B, Theis C, Poppy C, Zoe E, Barnaby F, Evan H, Kaelee H, Natalia V, Emilia M, Maia S, Jorja T, Fergus W, Paige F, Erin M, Daisy G, Olivia C, Megan W, Adaline E, Isabelle D, Izzy E, Lorna I, Elspeth W, Amelie O’M, Emilie R, Libby B, Leah S, Bee B, Phoebe J, Daniel J, Edith S and Chloe M.

Week after week, these students have given their time, energy and enthusiasm to support, guide, and inspire others. From leading warm-ups and organising activities to encouraging participation and building confidence, they have consistently demonstrated excellent teamwork, communication, and leadership skills. They have created an environment that is fun, inclusive, and positive. One where younger children feel supported, engaged, and excited to take part.

They are far more than event leaders, they are role models. They represent the very best of our school, showing professionalism, pride, and passion in everything they do. They are true ambassadors for youth sport, and their impact will be felt long beyond this year.

Throughout the year, they have supported and delivered an incredible range of events, including Christmas and Winter Olympic-themed multi-skills sessions, as well as activities such as darts, archery, athletics, rugby, football, dodgeball, and many more. These events often take place after school, in their own time, which makes their dedication even more commendable.

In addition, they have successfully organised and delivered a sports day for Crookham Infants here at Calthorpe, as well as delivering a sports day at St. Peters Junior school, supported the successful sports day at Tweseldown Infant school and The Cambridge Primary sports day. Furthermore, they have delivered a large-scale district athletics event at Aldershot Garrison in June, which saw over 850 KS1 and KS2 pupils take part and finished off supporting a colour run at Church Crookham Junior School on Friday. Their energy, organisation, and enthusiasm throughout these events were exceptional. They have supported and inspired every participant, ensuring all children felt included and encouraged from start to finish.

The feedback received from staff and parents about their conduct is consistently outstanding. They should all be incredibly proud of the example they set.

Thank you for the difference you have made, not only to our school, but to the wider community and for creating such positive and lasting memories for so many young people.

I would also like to recognise six very special young ladies who are moving on to the next chapter of their journeys: Poppy, Paige, Maia, Erin, Daisy, and Zoe. Over the past three years, you have gone above and beyond in every possible way. Your leadership, commitment, and dedication have been nothing short of outstanding, not just within school, but across the wider community. You have set the standard for what it means to be a Sports Leader.

You have been instrumental in the success of so many events, and your support, resilience, communication, and loyalty have never gone unnoticed. You have made a real and lasting difference, enriching the lives of so many others and mine included.

I feel incredibly proud and fortunate to have had you as part of the team. I will miss you immensely, but I know you have bright futures ahead of you!

Good luck for your next chapter.

Not content with simply throwing colour powder at the participants, many of our leaders ended up covered in colour themselves, adding even more laughter and enjoyment to the occasion.

The afternoon was filled with fun, smiles, physical activity and, most importantly, lots and lots of colour. Our Transition Lead, Mr Marshall Jones, made a special guest appearance and joined in the festivities.

It was the perfect way to celebrate another successful year of Sports Leadership and a fitting finale to a year of outstanding service to our local community

All these events have not only helped our students develop leadership, communication, and organisational skills, but they’ve also strengthened the bonds between our schools and communities. It’s been a powerful reminder of how sport can bring people together and create lasting memories.

Here’s to another fantastic year of sport, leadership, and community at CPS.

We can’t wait to see what next year brings!
