Intermediate UKMT Competition Success
Our students have once again demonstrated exceptional mathematical talent in this year’s UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge. Their collective achievement stands out not only within our school but also well above the national expectations for this competition. This year, students earned an impressive 22 Gold, 69 Silver, and 68 Bronze certificates. Many others were only a few marks away from a certificate or from reaching the next award level, reflecting the depth of effort and understanding across the cohort. In total, 159 certificates were awarded—significantly higher than the national average of 129 for a school of our size. We are also delighted to share that 13 students achieved scores high enough to qualify for the next round of the competition which took place on 19th March. Qualification required 61+ for Year 9 and 66+ for Years 10 and 11, making this a remarkable accomplishment. This success reflects the hard work, curiosity, and resilience shown by our students, as well as the dedication of the staff who support them. We wish all students who progressed to the next round the very best of luck and we were proud to present students with their certificates in recent assemblies.
