WHAT TO EXPECT
As part of the Hampshire Games, our students will take on the role of Sports Leaders, delivering an inclusive Athletics event at Winchester Sports Park. The event will bring together primary school pupils from across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight for a fun, active, and supportive sporting experience.
Working under the guidance of staff, our Sports Leaders take ownership of planning and delivering each activity. This includes creating inclusive adaptations to ensure all participants can access and enjoy the experience. On the day, they will work collaboratively in teams to explain activities, demonstrate skills, motivate participants, and create a positive atmosphere where every child feels valued and included.
Taking on this role provides a valuable opportunity for personal development. Through this experience, students will build:
- Leadership skills โ developing confidence in communication, organisation, and guiding younger pupils
- Resilience โ responding to challenges, thinking on their feet, and adapting to different needs
- Respect and inclusivity โ showing patience, fairness, and understanding towards all participants
- Positive role modelling โ inspiring others through enthusiasm, teamwork, and a supportive attitude
- Community connection โ contributing to an event that brings together schools, pupils, and families through sport
By the end of the day, our Sports Leaders will have played a key role in creating a memorable and inclusive sporting experience for younger pupils, while also growing in confidence, responsibility, and pride in their contribution to the wider school community.
