Y11 Art Galleries trip - January 2020

On Thursday, 23rd January we took 55 Year 11 GCSE Art and Photography students to London to visit The Tate Modern, National Portrait and the National Gallery.  This trip was organised to support the current GCSE exam preparations and students recorded their observations of the exhibits through photography, sketching and writing.

This opportunity has already had a positive impact on students’ work and we hope this experience will encourage students (and their families) to visit other Art and Photography exhibitions during half- term, such as the Picasso and Paper Exhibition or, more locally, the Ashgate Gallery in Farnham, which would help to further support students’ exam preparation and personal responses.

This was an enjoyable day and it was good to have the opportunity to engage with students’ learning out of the school environment and to be able to offer them the opportunity to see art in a gallery context.
