Sports Day 2014

Sports Day took place on Wednesday, 2nd July 2014. The weather was absolutely glorious, and a very successful and enjoyable day was had by all. The competition was very close going into the event as a result of an excellent level of participation from all Houses in their Heats.

Ultimately, Kilby were victorious overall (pushed hard by Somerville) and see their House engraved on the trophy for the third time since the introduction of our House system. Congratulations and very well done to everyone in Kilby.

A number of Sports Day records were broken and a few students came extremely close to breaking even more records. Massive congratulations go to:

Yr 7 Angus Y (K09) 600m NSDR 1.41.47
Yr 8 Rebecca B (M05) 800m NSDR 2.35.97
Yr 8 Boys Somerville Relay Team NSDR 53.82

Yr 10 Edwin L (M01) 100m NSDR  11.76, Edwin L (M01) 200m NSDR  24.77

The Physical Education Department have reviewed all of the results, and all record breakers listed above along with the following students will be the proud recipients of our ‘Outstanding Performance Trophy in recognition and celebration of their awesome achievement on Sports Day.

Yr 9 Katherine A (S01) Javelin 200m 26.25m (15cm off the SDR)
Yr 10 Natasha D (S09) 1st place in 1500m and Long Jump.

The event was very well supported by students and staff, and it was lovely to welcome so many parents to spectate, support the competitors and share in the fun of the day.

The Physical Education Department would like to thank all the staff involved, especially Mrs B. Gibbard for her fantastic ‘fund raising’, The Learning Support Department for running the refreshments and Mr P. Turner and the site team for their invaluable help and support in setting up for the day.
